I just want to make a donation directly to the Dog Days No-K!
Over the last 15 years, East Cobb Rotary has distributed almost a million dollars to local charities through the Dog Days race. That’s a large part of what Rotary is all about – providing a framework where community members can combine their time and treasure to benefit others that need help. In 2019, our club collected and distributed $92,000 to help local non-profit organizations.
This year the need is greater than ever. For 2020, our club set a goal of raising $125,000 to support these and other good causes, and then the pandemic struck. The experts have advised that we just can’t do a 1000 runner event this year, and we’ve struggled to figure out how to support these worthy organizations in light of the current health crisis.
So here’s what we’re doing, and we need your help!
We’ll be hosting a "Not a Race". The 15th Annual Dog Days 5k will be the first (and hopefully only) Dog Days No-K. We’re hoping to enable thousands of our neighbors to contribute to our community through not running. It’ll be a footrace-themed event that will play out on social media and DogDaysRun.com through August, September and October will conclude with a live recap and awards ceremony on Facebook Live from McClesky East Cobb YMCA on October 17. We’ll still have folks registered to not run. We’ll still have awards for participants in all age groups. It’ll still count for the Run and See Georgia Grand Prix. We’re just not actually racing. Awards in the No-K will be given to the Overall Open, Masters, Grand Masters and Senior Masters Male & Female. Medals to Top 3 finishers in 16 age groups from 10 & under to 80 & over. Winners will be drawn; not be based on time. If you register, you can win - this might be your best chance ever! As Road Runner mentioned in his video we will also have a Lazy Dog/Pet event that let’s you register your favorite pet – each of them will receive their own No-race packet and be eligible for awards and prizes!
IMPORTANT!
Packet pickup will be on Thursday, 10/8/20, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Big Peach Running Company - Marietta, 1062 Johnson Ferry Rd, Marietta, GA 30068.
